Headway Workbook

Does anyone have a Headway WORKBOOK with them ? I need vocab words from page 45 for a Tuesday lesson. In my fog on Friday, I copied the wrong page.

Hi Colin & Demetrius,

I'm here--a few (student trainer) students a few staff. The building is definitely open. Basically, I'm pretty sure CELTA is open, though whether things will start on time and how many students will show up is hard to know.

I appreciate the info Colin. I am also in a similar situation coming from Newark, NJ. I would really like some concrete info about rather or not CELTA class will be closed. Please somebody comment. The Jersey Bus Transit is closed and it is an essential piece to our cummute. I teach tody I really need to know.

So I checked the website for St. John's University and it says that the University will open at 10:30 AM. I also called their weather hotline (1-888-785-2499) and that said that all of St. John's campuses are closed today. On top of all that, none of the MTA buses will be working today.

I also called that number you gave for Teaching House - no reply. I was just wondering if anyone had specific information before I left because it is a long way to go from the Bronx, especially when the train are going to be running locally, to get stuck out in the cold.

It takes quite a lot for St. John's and CELTA to close. Sometimes St. John's cancels classes, but the building remains open, as does CELTA. If it's REALLY REALLY bad, call the school at 212-732-0277.......

I was curious, will the snow affect class in any way? Will St. John's close or will CELTA cancel if it gets too bad?

My personal goal is simply to become a teacher.  I know a fair amount about English grammar and usage, but I am a largely self-taught teacher.  When I complete the CELTA course, I’d like to return home feeling confident that I have something of value to offer to the various people in my community who would benefit from improving their English skills.

Two ideas for MyTeachinghHouse.com: I would have liked to have had earlier access to the course handbook, if not to the entire web site. I’ve looked over the handbook, and it’s really helpful.  Also, it might be useful to have an FAQ section where Christen could post the answers to questions that students ask while making their plans to come to New York; for example, I e-mailed to ask if I’d have access to a printer at the university. (Of course, if I’d been able to read the handbook, I wouldn’t have had to e-mail Christen ).

There were so many words and phrases in the glossaries I could have listed, but my favorite was Cuisenaire Rods. I had no idea what they were; the only thing that came to my mind when I read the term was a food processor. I’m curious how you can use them to teach language items and concepts.

The two listings that come closest to a school I might apply to after completing the course are the English Language Center at Belmont University and the University of Memphis.  They sound similar to the type of program that is rumored to be scheduled to start at the state university in my hometown sometime in the next year.
