Hey Tessa! You left your laptop in the classroom, I left it with Maelle.

It's waaaaay to early to be concerned with post-CELTA jobs at all, but since this is hot off the press I thought I'd share. And it's just representative of a type of local very P/T teaching opportunity that is quite common.

If you're local and are looking to dip your toes before you head off somewhere, are particularly interested in entering the ESOL/Eng for Immigrants arena, or have another P/T job and looking to add more pieces, here's a potential chance to start in. The job is here:

http://www.qcap.org/employment/job-openings

It's actually the second one down on that page; the position is "ESOL Teacher". It's a total of 13.5 hrs/wk only. Typically these are beginners/pre-intermediate learners, but sometimes above.

BTW, if anyone IS particularly interested in work with this *type* of program, let me know. I've spent most of the last few years before joining the TH team working in them and I'll have lots of contacts and info for you. In any event, during the final week we'll get into it more deeply in the 'Teaching Literacy & Beginners' input session.

****PS - As of right now (6:19pm) we're still waiting for the photocopier guy to show up. If Big Mama isn't fixed by tomorrow morning we'll have to rely on the one we set up on the computer tables. It's a good printer, but just expect longer than usual backup. If it's at all possible for you to make copies at home, do so. If not, try to come in early/expect a bit of lag. Also, if you have a thumb drive and can export your stuff to PDF, that can be used with the front desk printer as well.

Just a heads up.

Matthew

@Deyo: pass it in at 9am Monday morning.
@Tessa: you'll find it specified in the assignment description: it's for a 60min class.

Hey guys! I don't really know a better way to ask this questions but I was finishing up working on my assignment and was wondering about something. Does this lesson that we are designing around our authentic text have to be based on a 40 minute lesson plan layout? Can it be designed for a longer class period? Sorry if this question was already asked and I missed it. I tried to find the answer in my mounds of info sheet to no avail.

Thanks,

Tessa

We just turn in our SRT assignments in the morning on Monday, right? or should we email them in?

There's a VGA chord there, with some MacBook adaptors on the cart. I've got a MacBook Air adapter as well, which is different. It's a very handy piece of equipment to have so I'd recommend getting one, but for right now you *should* be covered.

Evy, I think that they actually have a collection of adapters at the center already. So, you probably don't need to buy one.

Does anyone know what cable the projector use? I'm planning to use some images for my lesson using my macbook and need to buy an adapter. Does the projector use VGA, DVI, or HDMI?

Sergio's in. Well done, it is now officially a full house.
