Biologicalpretreatmentswereshowntoimprove methane production from animal manure by 74%, chemical pretreatments by 45%, heat pretreatments by 41% and physical pretreatments by 30%. In general, pretreatments improve anaerobic digestion of the lignocellulosic content of animal manure and, therefore, increase methane yield. Biogas Production from Kitchen Waste Ravi Agrahari and Tiwari (2013) investigated that the kitchen waste is the best alternative for biogas production in a community level biogas plant. It is produced when bacteria degrade organic matter in the absence of air. Biogas contains around 55‐65% of methane, 30‐40% of carbon dioxide. wastewater treatment plants, food waste. Table 3 summarizes the main features of some types of biodegradable raw materials. Table 3- Specific biogas production potential and methane content for several sublayers (after VINTILĂ T, [1], NIKOLIĆ V, VINTILĂ T, [7]) Depending on the dry matter content of the sublayers, the processes of anaerobic plants with an installed electrical capac-ity of 3,352MW. Biogas plants in Germany have an average electrical capacity of ap-prox. 420kW. By way of comparison, aver - age coal-fired power plants have a capacity of approx. 600MW el and Germany's largest nuclear power plant - Isar 2 - has a capac-ity of approx. 1,485MW el. Biogas plants in raw materials, like the following, can be used for biogas production: cattle manure, pig manure, chicken dung, slaughterhouse waste (blood, fat, entrails, and rumen content), plants waste, silage, rotten grain, waste water, fats, bio-waste, food industry waste, malt remnants, marc, distillery slop, bio ethanol plant slop, brewer's grain (crushed … In almost all countries the great majority of biogas is produced from raw materials such as agricultural waste, manure, municipal waste, plant material, sewage, green waste or food waste. Some organic materials have been slow to be used for biogas production because they are slow to degrade in bio-digesters, but that is changing. Biogas production in wastewater treatment plants Wastewater treatment 05 2.1 Feedstock The principal feedstock for AD in WWTPs is sewage sludge. In general, it is composed of primary and secondary sludge, also called mixed sludge. Greases from the grease trap (usually found at the entrance of the plant) are often also digested. Screenings are not Download : Download full-size image. Fig. 6. The total biogas produced during 30 days of anaerobic digestion including CO 2 content (black) and CH 4 content (white). Alkaline pretreatment at 75 °C resulted in a VS/TS ratio of 950.7 g kg −1, which was the highest value among all pretreatments performed. •Out-of-date biogas plants built in the 80s or 90s •Many current references, theses and dissertations dedicated to biogas technology •Growing importance attached to training and popularization on the subject of anaerobic techniques Universität Stuttgart Biogastechnology in Bolivia 2.5. Effect of pH value in biogas production Best biogas production in the anaerobic environment is the optimum pH range of 6.6-7.6. It causes toxic effects on me-thane bacteria when this value falls below 6.2. The equilibrium profile reached the
