I am not sure what province I was in, but it was outside of Chiang Mai. My sense was that these elephants were treated well, under that circumstances, and are well cared for. I'm sure not all operations are like this, but I was impressed, and I had a blast!

Which province are you in here? I rode elephants in Tak, outside Chiang Mai, as well as down in Ayutthaya at the Kraal. While I'm not sure I'd continue to support this type of business for ethical reasons, it was quite an experience!
