I've looked at the base / extreme adjectives - no special feelings yet :)
As far as teaching it, I think it is important to clarify what system of comparing (opposing, discriminating) base / extreme (notions, values) implies. We use it to synthesize reality, to emotionally color it. Without this system no meaning can intellectually be comprehended.

How did the class go? Anything I need to be aware of?
