I was a journalist for 23 years, having worked both in Brazil and in the US. After I settled in Taiwan to continue my studies of Mandarin and Buddhist philosophy, I was asked to substitute for an English teacher friend and fell in love with teaching. Four years later I moved to India and taught English to Buddhist monks from the Himalayas (Tibet, Bhutan, Sikkim, Nepal, etc) for about three years.
