Share more about yourself.: I have had two exciting careers: a financing, corporate commercial and entertainment lawyer having worked most recently at Disney and MGM; and a middle school teacher in Catholic schools and a private teacher/tutor of English as a second language to children and adults in Italy and in the US. I have traveled throughout Europe and Asia and I have lived abroad, mostly in Italy Switzerland and France. I thrive in foreign cultures and I enjoy meeting and working with foreign persons. I am passionate about teaching and learning. I am ready for a foreign adventure and I look forward to being of service as an English teacher. I am of Czech origin, so Eastern Europe is especially appealing, although there are many other areas in the world in which I would enjoy living and exploring. I strongly believe my legal and business background could be of value in certain schools and situations as I would be able to clearly discuss, explain and give the background of legal, business and financial terms and uses.
I speak French, Italian, some Spanish and a little Czech and Chinese. I like studying languages and trying to communicate and be understood in a foreign language. I also understand how difficult and intimidating it can be to try to speak and strive to be understood in a new language that one is studying. I believe this will aid me in being a patient and encouraging teacher. I trust that my maturity and experience might prove an advantage in many situations and schools, especially for businessmen or lawyers or students interested in learning a business/legal vocabulary.
I am excited about starting the CELTA course next week and exploring teaching opportunities around the world.
