Future employment: The job list has one offer I’m really interested in: International House at Riverside Church. That’s the kind of place I’d prefer for the first year after getting my CELTA. After that, I may try teaching in another country.
The word on the list that I had to look up was Cloze, as in Cloze exercises. I realized that I’ve done that kind of exercise in several language classes myself.
One thing I tried out that wasn’t part of the assignment: figuring out the phonetic symbols. For a while, I studied them in a book, and then I found some quizzes on BBC’s Learn a Language-English site. Each of the 5 quizzes had several questions involving the symbols, and working with them helped a lot.
Looks like you'd like to work in a nice climate (no 30 degrees below zero in Oceana), although northern China is another story... I've been reading some articles on ESLPanda.com about jobs there, and I don't even have my CELTA yet!
