Hi, Nicole. Hope you did OK in the snow yesterday. I don't have your email address with me, so I'm writing via CELTA. I'm pretty far along in my planning for next Tuesday's lesson, and I'm just starting to look at Thursday's. I realized that we should coordinate a bit on both of them.
On Tuesday, my lesson is first. The whole lesson, including the lead-in, will be about Tarantino and Hitchcock. All the more general conversation topics, like favorite movies, Oscar contenders, etc., are wide open for you. By the time you start, the students will already have been talking about movie directors and Oscars (only in relation to my two directors). I am pre-teaching the words cattle, parking ticket, muse, nominated, and honorary, though I don't know if these come up in the listening for your lesson. The fluency parts of my lesson will have to do with telling a biography, which should pick up from Joyce's lesson and may continue into yours.
For Thursday, you have a reading about Mick Jagger, and I have to use the same reading for a grammar lesson on "used to." So we will presumably be using the same handout. Let me know whether you plan to just xerox from the book (some of the pictures fit the text really well) or if you think it would be better to retype the text to create our own (so it looks nicer).
Also, I am supposed to start by transitioning from your lesson, so it would be good to know what you decide to use as a fluency task (on the topic of school days / rebellion). Not now, but when you're ready.
You can reach me through this site, or at a.koenig@verizon.net, or 212-839-6307 (work) or 212-666-4658 (office).
Thanks.
Anne
Hi, Nicole. I got an email from Joyce asking me if I had your contact information. I didn't write down your address, but here is Joyce's: joycegoodman2@gmail.com
She wants to coordinate her presentation with yours.
