I lived in New York when I was almost too young to remember and have family in Connecticut, but I grew up in Mississippi in a small town not too far from near New Orleans. Now, I teach writing classes as a lecturer at the University of Tennessee. My education is in creative writing with an emphasis in poetry, but I'm interested in both the artistic and practical benefits of communication, and I believe they are not necessarily mutually exclusive. Lately, I teach business writing, although I've also taught creative writing, literature, and composition. I've tutored a few ESL learners one-on-one, but this fall, I'll be teaching a composition class for non-native speakers of English for the first time, so I'm excited to learn more about how to approach this challenge!
