Hiya! I'm from Johor Baru, Malaysia but grew up in Atlanta, Georgia when my late father came here to do a PhD in economics in the early 1980s. Whilst in graduate school in England during the early 2000s, an intellectual side interest in labor migration accidentally became a calling of sorts. Working with non-profits fighting labor trafficking and child sex trafficking, I got pulled into the media side of things eventually leading to a career in the commercial film industry, which though fun, has pulled me further away from the things that I care most passionately about. I'm hoping CELTA training will enable me to transition over to documentary filmmaking with either a secondary or tertiary teaching component wherein I will train a new generation of unconventional voices and marginalized perspectives to tell their stories through mainstream commercial media channels.
